RE-MEMBER-ING
Ministry for Catholics seeking to return
or become more regular.
We hope you will accept the Lord's call to return!
Our Need for the Church
Jesus established His Church for us! And His love for us
is beyond our comprehension. The lord wants to come to save us, more than we want or know.
It's clear with all the moral and spiritual darkness, ignorance, and slavery to sin; we need
Jesus whose name means Savior. We need the Church, the Living Word of God, and the Lord's presence
to us in the Sacraments to experience His saving power, peace, love, and forgiveness in our lives.
Who are Inactive Catholics
There are different kinds of inactive Catholics, and different reasons people leave or fall
away from the Church, or simply become inactive.
Some reasons involve the Church. Others are not directly related to the Church. Some
become irregular in the practice of their faith, and eventually become inactive. Others may
simply consider themselves as absent from the Church for a period of time due to family, work,
sickness, and other circumstances.
Whatever the reasons the Church is open to members returning. Reclaiming people was central
to Jesus' ministry and mission, which He has entrusted to the Church with the Holy
Spirit!
The following are some of the reasons people become inactive in
living their Catholic faith. Yet, are any reasons great than the importance of receiving our Lord?
Whatever the reasons, the Church is open to members returning. Reclaiming people was central to Jesus'
ministry and mission, which He has entrusted to the Church with the Holy Spirit!
- Busyness and cares of life
- Marriage and divorce situations
- Family life, conflicts, and strong family religious practices competing with secular values and practices
- Struggles with Church changes or failures to change since Vatican II
- Misunderstanding basic Church teachings and or struggles living the moral teachings of the Gospel and Church
- Ineffective preaching and liturgies
- Hurts, injuries, angers from the actions of a bishop, priest, religious, parish leader, or fellow parishioner
- Moving often and not connecting and establishing roots in a parish church.
- Putting off returning out of fear or other reasons
- Challenges from other faith or religious traditions
- Impersonalism resulting from over-sized parishes, less priests, and staff
How to Return
Catholics may return by meeting privately with a priest. Or they can attend sessions lead by Father
John Kirk with team members, some who were once inactive themselves.
The sessions provide you an opportunity to share your concerns, grievances, voice your insights in a casual and
confidential atmosphere, and at the same time, take another look at what the Church teaches.
